The Directive 2010/75/EU on industrial emissions (IED) has several provisions related to contamination management. This Common Forum questionnaire was decided to assess the way Member States will transpose these provisions in their existing legal framework and to identify remaining critical issues.

The Environmental Liability Directive (ELD) is the first EU polluter pays legislation. Member states have transposed this new Directive in their national legal framework in the last months. This comparison study illustrates the differences of transposition between Member States.

In accordance with Article 20 of the Directive, mining waste facilities shall be included in the inventory if their actual status leads to serious negative environmental impacts (on water, soil, etc.) and relevant threats to Human Health.
